"What's your favorite place in Italy?" she asked, choosing to follow Kim's interests. "I've never been." Getting him a little further out of his shell would be lovely and she wanted to know what put the fire in his eyes outside of music.
When almost finished with dessert a small group of Wren's classmates spotted her and waved, greeting her and then stopping short when they saw she was with a guy. "Oh my god, Wren, are you on a date?" one of them gushed.
"He's super cute," the other one went, smiling at Kim. "I thought you didn't date."
"I don't date for the sake of abiding by social norms," she corrected, trying to keep the conversation to herself. "Just as if I saw one of you one a date, I wouldn't be barging in like chickens dying for a shred of gossip for tomorrow. Some might call it respecting personal space." Wiping her mouth with a napkin, she looked over to Kim. "Ready to go? I am."
"What? No name?"
"Not to nosy people who haven't taken a hint that now is not the time." She looked up, standing from her seat. "You'll have to excuse us, we're on a timetable now." Throwing a finger to the chin wai, she smiled at Kim, careful not to say anything that would require him to speak. "Come on, we should go. I'm sure my classmates want this table for their dessert. I'll see you guys later, okay? In class."
