"I'm not perfect either," she agreed quietly, watching him ease back into bed. "We'll take it day by day. That's all any of us can do. But I will try not to worry too much, and kiss your boo-boos when you do return. Besides, I'm pretty used to that prickly asshole shell, even more so now that I know without a doubt of the sweet, gooey center inside."

It wasn't going to be easy and it was going to take a lot of work between the both of them. She was ready for it. "I'm ready for all of it, really. I know things aren't going to be normal. But I'm not normal either, so I think it'll be fine. We can make of it the way we need to in order to thrive. And it doesn't matter if no one else thinks it's okay. As long as we do right by each other, that's all that matters."

Settling down next to Kim, she leaned in closer but not draping herself over him. His next subject had her groaning softly. "Yeah, I know. We should both hope it's just irritation and not a full on infection.
