If anything, Kohl could say that the breaking in period of the security unit was a better test of patience than anything else. Kohl nodded, looking at the keys. He had assumed that living quarters would be here, so having an apartment to himself was surprising. He didn't show that surprise as he watched Maggie for another moment.

When she didn't add any more to it and then hit the subject change, he returned to pulling out another piece of glass and resting it on his knee. "Finding a compromise to new things is never easy, whether it be children or work or a partnership." Change wasn't easy.

As time progressed and he couldn't find any more slivers by eye, he took his card and angled it, pushing it along Maggie's skin to check for any more slivers. A small smile graced his face and he glanced up with an amused glint in his eye. "You think I just sleep with anyone? If I did that, little fire, half the guard on my floor would be pregnant with my ilk at this point." He couldn't find any more slivers and gently kissed her palm. "Scratch that, most of them would be given the way they act. Might want to consider a 'self-confidence' scale for any more newcomers. There, all better, now." He pulled the waste basket to his thigh and carefully scraped the shards into it.

Kohl remained seated where he was, thinking for a moment and then decided to share a bit more about himself. "In this life, it is Rista and I that are partnered. And we have a strong love and affection for each other as well as other people in our lives. For whatever reason, we cannot be with the ones that our souls yearn for.
